Hoppin’ Frog Brewery Wins Gold and Bronze At European Beer Star Competition
Hits The Motherload With Gold Medal In Coveted Ultra Strong Beer Category
The mood is excitement at Hoppin’ Frog Brewery after receiving two prestigious awards at the European Beer Star 2020 Competition in Nuremberg, Germany. Not only did they receive the Gold Medal for Q.O.R.I.S. The Quasher Quadruple Oatmeal Imperial Stout in the sought-after Ultra-Strong Beer category, but they also received the Bronze Medal for Infusion A Peanut Butter Chocolate Coffee Porter in the Herb and Spice category. These are prestigious awards from one of the world’s leading beer competitions, held for the 16th year by the Bavarian private brewers’ association Private Brauereien Bayern.
A 72-member judges panel of master brewers, beer sommeliers and established beer connoisseurs from Europe took part in a two-and-a-half-day blind tasting in early October to determine the winners of the gold, silver and bronze medals for 70 different beer styles. Common objective ranking criteria were applied, ensuring transparency and validity of the evaluation process. For Stefan Stang, Managing Director of the Bavarian private brewers’ association Private Brauereien Bayern, this is one of the reasons why the Beer Star competition has such a strong worldwide reputation. “The phenomenal rise of our competition shows how important artisanal brewing has become and the great variety of beers being produced. We are proud that we managed to organize such a high-quality competition in these turbulent times.”
Hoppin’ Frog sees the bronze and gold medals received at the European Beer Star as a validation of all their hard work and an indication that the company can expect substantial further growth of its business. “This is a great honor to earn the recognition from European judges for making some of the best beers in the world,” said Fred Karm – President, Hoppin’ Frog Brewery, “and this prize motivates our staff to continue brewing innovative, superb beers.”
