Hoppin’ Frog Brewery Wins Silver Award at World Beer Cup
Akron, Ohio – May 15th, 2023
Hoppin’ Frog Brewery claimed a Silver award at the 2023 World Beer Cup, a global beer competition that
evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers.
Awards were given in 103 beer-style categories during the World Beer Cup award ceremony on May
10th, 2023 at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee. And, Hoppin’ Frog Brewery was awarded
Silver in the Honey Beer category for its Smashing Honey Blonde! Crisp and refreshing with fresh,
lightly-sweet honey notes, Smashing Honey Blonde is available now at select retailers and the brewery.

Smashing Honey Blonde is simply smashing! It’s so easy-drinking, crisp and refreshing that we made the
smart decision to brew this year-round,” said Fred Karm, Owner and Brewmaster of Hoppin’ Frog
Brewery. “So yeah, we’re pretty psyched to receive such a prestigious award for one of our newest
beers!”
Hoppin’ Frog is an artisanal brewery in Akron, Ohio making very flavorful beers in the most flavorful
styles. Established in 2006 and brewing with an uncompromising and relentless focus on detail from the
ingredient selection to the brewing process, the brewery has become known for quality around the
world, and now distributes in 22 states and 40 foreign countries. Hoppin’ Frog is the concept of owner
and established brewmaster Fred Karm, a brewer since 1994 who has designed and produced 27 award
winning beers at the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup – the two most prestigious
contests in the world.
World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 272 beer judges from 26 countries.
Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer”, the 2023 World Beer Cup received 10,213 entries from 2,376
breweries in 51 countries. Presented by the Brewers Association, the World Beer Cup has been held
biennially since 1996 (and annually since 2022), to celebrate the art and science of brewing by
